TSA Security Checkpoint & Guidelines
Information on security operating hours, TSA PreCheck availability, carry-on liquid limits, and mountain travel screening rules at ASE.
5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
The TSA security checkpoint opens daily at 5:00 AM. Arrive 1.5–2 hours before scheduled flight departure time.
Expedited Screening
TSA PreCheck expedited lane operates during peak commercial departure banks. Passengers retain shoes, light jackets, and 3-1-1 liquids.
Valid ID Required
All commercial passengers 18 and older must present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, US passport, or accepted federal ID at screening.
Screening Guidelines for Mountain Travelers
Ski Boots & Outerwear
Ski boot bags carried through security must pass standard X-ray screening. Heavy mountain parkas and ski boots must be removed unless using TSA PreCheck.
Avalanche Safety Gear
Avalanche shovels and poles are prohibited in carry-on bags and MUST be packed in checked luggage. Electric avalanche airbag batteries must be carried in cabin baggage.
