Frequently Asked Questions

Will any commercial or private flights operate at ASE during the closure?
No. There will be no commercial or general aviation operations and no terminal access from April 4, 2027 at 11:00 PM through November 19, 2027 at 7:00 PM.
Can I still park at the airport or use the electric vehicle chargers?
No. Bear and Elk parking lots, EV charging stations, and the terminal building are closed to the public for the duration of the closure for safety and heavy construction staging.
What happens to general aviation and private charter aircraft?
General aviation operations relocate for the closure period. Rifle Garfield County Airport (RIL) is the primary regional general aviation alternative.
How should I arrange ground transportation from alternate airports?
Plan to reserve rental cars or private charter mountain shuttles at your alternate arrival airport (EGE, GJT, or DEN) prior to traveling.
Could the reopening date change?
Yes. The construction schedule is weather-dependent and subject to FAA approval. Dates on this site are updated immediately by airport staff as milestones are confirmed.
