Noise Abatement & Voluntary Night Curfew

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport works closely with the community, Pitkin County BOCC, and FAA to minimize aircraft noise over the Roaring Fork Valley.

Voluntary Night Curfew

10:30 PM – 7:00 AM Curfew

To protect valley peace and quiet, ASE enforces a strict voluntary curfew restriction. No aircraft engine starts or departures are permitted between 10:30 PM and 7:00 AM local time, except for emergency medical evacuations.

Curfew Violation Enforcement:

All non-emergency aircraft operations occurring during curfew hours are reported to the Airport Advisory Board and Pitkin County Commissioners for investigation.

Flight Operations & Departure Routes

Noise Abatement Procedures

Pilots operating at ASE follow specialized noise abatement departure profiles (NADP) and steep 3.5-degree approach glide slopes to reduce ground noise footprints over residential neighborhoods in Aspen and Snowmass Village.

  • • Preferential Runway 33 departures push climb gradient high over uninhabited mountain corridors.
  • • Fleet modernization incentive programs encourage quieter Stage 4 / Stage 5 aircraft.
