Noise Abatement & Voluntary Night Curfew
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport works closely with the community, Pitkin County BOCC, and FAA to minimize aircraft noise over the Roaring Fork Valley.
10:30 PM – 7:00 AM Curfew
To protect valley peace and quiet, ASE enforces a strict voluntary curfew restriction. No aircraft engine starts or departures are permitted between 10:30 PM and 7:00 AM local time, except for emergency medical evacuations.
Curfew Violation Enforcement:
All non-emergency aircraft operations occurring during curfew hours are reported to the Airport Advisory Board and Pitkin County Commissioners for investigation.
Noise Abatement Procedures
Pilots operating at ASE follow specialized noise abatement departure profiles (NADP) and steep 3.5-degree approach glide slopes to reduce ground noise footprints over residential neighborhoods in Aspen and Snowmass Village.
- • Preferential Runway 33 departures push climb gradient high over uninhabited mountain corridors.
- • Fleet modernization incentive programs encourage quieter Stage 4 / Stage 5 aircraft.
File a Noise or Curfew Complaint
Submit a formal aircraft noise report or potential curfew violation directly to the ASE Noise Abatement Office.
