ASE Climate Goals & Sustainable Aviation

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport leads small airport sustainability with ground equipment electrification, net-zero terminal targets, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives.

All-Electric Terminal

Net-Zero Energy Target

The 2029 commercial terminal design targets zero net energy consumption utilizing geothermal heat pumps, high-efficiency building envelopes, and solar power integration.

Ground Fleet Electrification

100% Electric eGSE

Transitioning airfield ground support equipment (tugs, loaders, pushbacks, service carts) from diesel to zero-emission electric power.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel

SAF Integration

Partnering with FBO Atlantic Aviation to supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends, reducing lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80%.
